National News: Sunday proved heartbreaking for Rajasthan’s Udaipur division, where four separate accidents took eight lives and injured several others. The incidents occurred in different districts, bringing immense grief to several families in a single day.

Grandmother and Two Grandchildren Drown in Pond

In Rajsamand district’s Devgarh area, a heartbreaking incident took place on Sunday morning in Dhak Ka Choura village under Mandawar Gram Panchayat. Around 10 a.m., former ward member Bhawari Devi (60) had taken her grandson Himmat Ram (11) and granddaughter Meena (10) to graze goats. While playing, the children entered a nearby pond to bathe but accidentally moved towards deeper water and began to drown.

In an attempt to save them, Bhawari Devi jumped into the pond. Sadly, as she did not know how to swim, she too got trapped in the water. By the time villagers noticed and pulled them out, all three had died. Their bodies were sent for post-mortem before being handed over to the grieving family. The children’s parents work as daily wage laborers to support their household.

Bolero and Bike Collision in Dungarpur

Later in the afternoon, around 4 p.m., a deadly road accident occurred in Dungarpur district on Udaipur Road near Deval village under Sadar police station. A Bolero vehicle and a motorcycle collided head-on, killing three people on the spot.

The victims were identified as Sunil Ghoghara (40), a resident of Deval Ghoghara Fala; his 6-year-old son, Shravan; and 7-year-old Nishant from Rohanwara. Sunil’s wife, Kamla, along with relatives Munna and Jigar, suffered serious injuries. Angered by the incident, villagers set the Bolero vehicle ablaze. Police reported that all six people were riding on the same motorcycle while returning home after celebrating Raksha Bandhan.

Electrocution Claims One Life

In another incident, 34-year-old Someshwar Damor lost his life in Balwaniya village under the Chaurasi police station of Dungarpur district. While walking past a roadside electric distribution point (DP), he came into contact with a live wire and was electrocuted. He was rushed to the hospital unconscious, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. The police have filed a case and launched an investigation.

Two Bikes Collide, One Dead

The fourth accident occurred in the Sarkaan Kopcha area under the Dungarpur Sadar police station. A head-on collision between two motorcycles claimed the life of Vinod Rot, a resident of Doja village. Three others sustained severe injuries and are receiving treatment at the district hospital.

A Day of Mourning

These four accidents, all happening on the same day, have cast a shadow of grief across the Udaipur division. Eight families have been left shattered with the sudden loss of loved ones. Local authorities have urged people to follow safety measures on roads and around water bodies to prevent such tragedies in the future.
